COVID-19 and union dues

with No Comments

Brothers and Sisters,

COVID-19 has created an unprecedented situation for our collective health, the industries we support and our livelihoods. We recognize it has created a number of challenges for our members and we are working to address your questions and provide support. Over the last month, the Regional Council executive, in conjunction with the executives of Locals 1325 (Edmonton and Northern Alberta) and 2103 (Calgary), discussed strategies to support our members during this difficult time.

Please be aware that we have resolved to forgive three months of union dues on behalf of every active member of Locals 1325 and 2103. The payments will be made as of April 30, 2020. Each member is required to review and ensure they keep their dues up to date. We hope this helps alleviate some of the financial pressure our members may be experiencing.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and will respond to changes on an as-needed basis. We encourage you to visit our COVID-19 webpage for up-to-date information, including government resources and supports. Please be sure to apply for the supports that are applicable to you. The page can be found at https://albertacarpenters.com/covid19. Your feedback is important to us so you are also encouraged to contact your Business Agent with any additional questions or concerns. Please visit the Contact page on our website for their information on how to reach them.

This is indeed a challenging time. While COVID-19 heath-related precautions call for us to stay home as much as possible and practise social distancing, those feelings of isolation you may be feeling are understandable. But don’t be afraid to reach out to your family, friends and colleagues for help when and where you need it. Please know that you are not alone in this and we will get through it together.

Thank you.
