Upcoming work for carpenters in Cold Lake and Edmonton region

with No Comments

Members,

We expect growing demand for skilled carpenters this summer in places like Cold Lake and the Edmonton region. As such, we want to remind all members to refer to the Job Board for the most up-to-date information about available work opportunities.

Among these opportunities is the 4 Wing Cold Lake Facility. Led by EllisDon, the 4 Wing Cold Lake fighter squadron facility is a state-of-the-art secure complex. We estimate the project work scope may require upwards of 100 carpenters, but this is still to be confirmed. The project currently has no living out allowance and offers the commercial rate. These details may be subject to change.

Work scheduling for the 4 Wing Cold Lake Facility is still in the preliminary stage, but we are starting to collect names of members who may be interested in working on this exciting project. While EllisDon is the general contractor on the facility, UBC members may pursue opportunities with subtrades contracted to the project.

Because of the nature of the project and the site’s strict security clearance requirements, there may be a long vetting process. As such, we encourage members to contact us and express their interest as soon as possible.

Project background:

The $525 million 4 Wing Cold Lake Facility will support the long-term maintenance and operation of new aircrafts being procured for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) through the Future Fighter Capability Project (FFCP). The Cold Lake facility will host two tactical fighter squadrons and will cover approximately 19,000 m2 net area, providing space for daily operations, maintenance, administration, mission planning, and simulator training. It will also house operational and support training squadrons and their training facilities.
